Rust Fix® Rust Treatment

Dupli-Color® Rust Fix® Coating destroys rust on contact by bonding and transforming it into a sand-able and paintable surface. Sprays on clear and transforms into a black, metal protecting coating that prevents future rust from forming. Rust Fix® saves you the time of sanding all the way down to bare metal and can be used with body filler and fiberglass.

How To Use

  • Usage
    Rusty metal
  • Prep
    Prepare surface byremoving loose paint, dirt, rust, grease, wax, etc. Remove as much rust and scale as possible with coarse 50-grit sandpaper or wire brush. Wash with mild soap and water. Rinse well and dry with a clean cloth. Mask-off surrounding areas to protect from overspray.
  • Application
    To spray, hold can parallel and 8–10 inches from surface to be coated and use in an even, sweeping motion. To avoid runs and sags apply 2–3 light coats, allowing surface to dry no more than 2 minutes between coats. Final application should dry to a black finish. Protect from moisture and allow surface to dry 24 hours before applying a topcoat of Dupli-Color® Sandable Primer or Dupli-Color® Topcoat Paint. If needed, dry sanding can be done to achieve a smoother coat before applying primer or topcoat.
  • Clean Up Disposal
    Use regionally compliant cleaner for cleaning purposes
